The thermal conductivities of different materials can be very different. The best heat conductors are metals, the worst are gases. The thermal conductivity of materials is described by a parameter called the thermal conductivity coefficient. Knowing the thermal conductivity coefficient of the material, it is possible to say how much heat leaks in a unit of time through a wall made of such material at a specific temperature difference.
