If two bodies are in thermal contact, i.e. heat transfer can take place between them, it is important to note whether the temperatures of the bodies differ or are the same. If the temperatures are different, we need to know which body's temperature is higher and which is lower. It determines the direction of heat transfer - from a warmer body to a colder one.
Heat transfer
The transfer of internal energy from one body or one part of the body to another is called heat transfer. Heat transfer always takes place from a warmer body to a colder one, whereby the warmer body cools down and the colder body warms up.
Warm balance
Heat transfer between bodies ends when the bodies participating in the heat transfer are in thermal equilibrium, i.e. the temperatures of these bodies equalize.
